Tribute Concert To Include Unreleased Material
Prince’s Paisley Park Museum has announced a concert event titled “Prince: Live on the Big Screen” to be held April 21 at the Target Center in the late artist’s hometown of Minneapolis.
According to a press release, the concert will feature “newly remastered and never-before-released audio and video of Prince accompanied live on the Target Center stage by a super-group of musicians, who performed alongside ‘The Purple One’ throughout his legendary career. The live experience will showcase Prince in his own inimitable sound and style. Also, it will be highlighting the incendiary energy he brought to each performance.”
Presumably, these would be unreleased live recordings from his vault. It was unclear at press time which musicians will be involved. The members of the Revolution and the artist’s later bands toured Prince-themed shows last year.
A rep for Paisley Park clarified to Variety: “It’s Prince on the screen and the musicians live in front of him on stage.” It has been compared to similar Elvis Presley-themed concerts. Holograms will not be involved.
The concert will be part of “Celebration 2018,” a four-day event honoring the artist’s life and legacy, taking place at Paisley Park between April 19-22.
