“50 Reasons” is the groovy single off Bien Bien’s brand new debut album
What started as three archetypical genres, incarnate — late-night college hangs, musical orgies, if you will — have yielded a fully formed collaboration. Bien Bien has created their own brand of groovy by fusing jazz, soul, indie rock and hip-hop together. The eponymous debut album was mastered by Jared Hirshland (Anderson Paak’s Grammy-nominated engineer).
Impose Magazine premiered and called “a monster of a collection.”
Bien Bien’s music was completely self-recorded and produced in their Madison, Wisconsin apartment, dubbed Fort Knocks Studios. This allowed for the band to record in a nontraditional and spontaneous manner. They have managed to create music that has listeners under their reverberant and colorful spell. An $18 thrift shop keyboard even made its way onto the tracks, most notably heard from the synthesizer in the debut EP’s title track, “She Grooves Me.” It is clear that their level of sonic authenticity reaches further than what’s expected from their creative environment.
Take a listen to Bien Bien’s music, you’ll find it quite refreshingly different than what we normally post. Don’t forget to follow them on social media and let us know what you think of the song.
