Boston Native, Landry M. spreads a positive message in latest single, “Happy Man”
Landry “Phuna” Mbenza, known as Landry M. was born in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He lived in France and Belgium before moving to the United States and eventually graduating from MacArthur High School (Irving, TX) in 2014. In 2018, He graduates from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Landry M. grew up listening to artists like Lokua Kanza, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, as well as Louis Armstrong and many other artists. Additionally, he cites Amy Winehouse, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Nina Simone, Michael Kiwanuka, Ed Sheeran, Mariah Carey, and Sia as my musical influences.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me. I am nothing without you, and I thank you for standing by me and supporting good, authentic music.
Just like you, Landry has a dream. His dream is to put a smile on people’s face, and inspire them to be confident in who they are, and accept themselves with flaws and all. One of the reasons why he chooses to make music is to be able to write songs that people can relate to. As a songwriter, he chooses not to hold anything back, but instead, I let it all out to the point of being vulnerable. Sharing his personal songs with us is the most exciting part of his profession.
Be on the lookout for the forthcoming album, “Remedy” on January 25th. In the meantime, connect with Landry on all social networks.
