[NEW MUSIC] O Fresh – “Late Shift” | @DJOFRESH

Multi-talented Houston native, O Fresh releases visual to his single, “Late Shift”

Born overseas and raised in Houston, Texas, O Fresh is a hip-hop artist, producer, and DJ with a diverse background in music and culture. He started off as a poet in high school, performing at slam poetry competitions and shows across the city. Before graduating, he wanted to release studio mixtape but was limited in finances.  He decided to sell t-shirts in the promotion of the mixtape and sold over 250 t-shirts around his high school to help fund his dream.  He went on to release his mixtape called “Seize the City” and hosted a self-headlined concert that sold over 200 tickets and attracted an audience of 1000+ via Livestream.

O FRESHAfter the local success of his music, O Fresh went on to the University of Texas at Austin to pursue education but wanted to find a way to still be a part of music.  He used the remaining money from his music the year prior to purchase his first set of DJ turntables and speakers and quickly made a name for himself throughout Austin as a DJ. He would go on to DJ throughout his time in college and continue to compete in slam poetry competitions at school.

Upon graduating in 2015, he began his full-time job but decided to go all in with rapping and began learning how to produce his own beats and worked with other up and coming producers. In late 2017, he released his first original single with Houston legend Slim Thug – called “We Up To Something”, produced by his friend MBN Beats, and his first music video for that song hit 133,000 views.  He released two EPs – “ReFresh: The PreGame” & “ReFresh: The Party” – in the Summer of 2018.

O Fresh aims to take his “ReFresh” brand to a new level in 2019 with a large promotional campaign centered around different focus areas that are important to him, including health and wellness, education, and charitable causes.  Beginning in February, he will begin touring across the US to promote his music brand and is hoping to perform at a few music festivals along the way. He recently submitted his application to SXSW and created the hashtag #refreshSXSW to help promote his campaign across social media.

With his background as a DJ, a producer, a rapper, a Finance college graduate, a Pakistani and a first generation Muslim musician from Houston – one of the most culturally diverse cities in America – O Fresh is aiming for new heights in 2019.

He is looking to break the cultural stereotypes and find new ways to weave and represent his brand into the fabric of American pop culture.

“Late Shift” is the lead single off O Fresh’s EP, “ReFresh: The Party”. The music video was released on November 14th and has been a hit for O Fresh’s fans all over the world.

The song has a smooth, dancehall vibe with a Bollywood influence that is catchy and fun to listen to. O Fresh’s goal takes his cultural South Asian roots and fuse that with his love for hip-hop and R&B. Growing up in Houston, Texas, he is creating symbolic music that represents the cultural melting pot he grew up in. Houston has one of the biggest South Asian populations in the USA and the song represents that identity by bridging together elements of Bollywood, Hip-Hop, and R&B along with a Spanish/dancehall backbeat.

“Late Shift” was produced, written, and performed by O Fresh.
