Pool Cosby Team Up with Raekwon on “A Poem is A Hustle”
Brooklyn sample-based electronic band Pool Cosby and the legendary rapper Raekwon (Wu-Tang) might seem like an unlikely collaboration project, but they’ve recently linked on up on a new single “A Poem Is A Hustle”.
Kicking off with Raekwon’s edgy, lyrical style and Pool Cosby’s hip-hop infused beats, the track smoothly transitions into a soothing melody and vocals with assistance from siblings Elena and Samora Pinderhughes, who has made a real name for himself in the jazz world, recently having performed with Common, Bilal and Robert Glasper for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert at the White House. Delightful to the ears and calming for the soul, “A Poem is A Hustle” showcases the chill and alternative Pool Cosby sound that leaves you with a yearning sense of nostalgia and happy memories.
Consisting of producer Jacuzzi Jefferson, violinist Kevin Kuh, and drummer Otto Botté, Pool Cosby started gaining attention in the Brooklyn music scene back in 2012, achieving #1 on Reverbnation‘s list of top experimental artists in Brooklyn shortly after. PC have demonstrated their talent for merging the worlds of hip-hop and electronic through tracks like “Little Do They Know” and “Lookin’ Up.”
Further attesting to their talent of taking the familiar and creating something new, the band recently partnered with Maak Haus to host an epic live performance in their Jeep, which was filmed throughout the course of the car ride. The release comes ahead of several scheduled performances going into the new year and Pool Cosby’s forthcoming album ‘Blind Gold’ due out in 2017. We are sure that the fans will look forward to experiencing ‘Blind Gold’.
