Soul Songstress, Tameca Jones releases her debut single, “Sandman” from newly released EP, “Naked”
Austin-based soul-pop songstress, Tameca Jones, drops her debut single, “Sandman” from her newly released EP, “Naked”. Produced by Josh Moore (Max Frost), she recently received praise from Billboard Magazine, who said she “raised the roof” at her performance at the 2015 Austin Music Awards, where she paid tribute to late beloved musician, Ian McLagan, alongside legends Steven Van Zandt, Charlie Sexton, Alejandro Escovedo and Patty Griffin. Jones recently joined forces with fellow Austinite, Gary Clark Jr., on the track “Wings” from his new album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim.
Jones began her musical journey in 2005, when she joined an Austin-based band, 8 Million Stories, and performed her original music. A few years later, the band called it quits, which left Jones without someone to help her create. So, she turned to covers to continue playing, grow her audience and pay the bills. Her reinterpretations span a diverse list of artists and idols that include Tina Turner, Nirvana, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix and more. The attention of her covers opened doors in her career, such as opening for Austin superstars including BB King, Smokey Robinson, Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, Max Frost and Gary Clark Jr, among others. Now, Jones is ready to emerge from underneath the covers and expose who she is as an original artist on “Hot and Bothered” and her forthcoming EP.
